Eden & Main Homebuyers on the Move Amid New Normal
In this uncharted territory of buying a new home amid the global health crisis, new homeowners at The Townhomes at Eden & Main in Southington, Connecticut are sharing their optimistic perspective about this 23-unit Kokes Properties community in scenic Southington, Connecticut.
We reached out to Derek and Elizabeth Pronovost at their new, stay-at-home location – their new Eden & Main townhome. They told us about their homebuying experience and how they’re doing during the health crisis. (Lightly edited for brevity and clarity.):

How are the two of you doing since you closed on your new home here?
Derek and Elizabeth: It's a bit bizarre. Given the current situation, our attorney took every step to ensure the two of us would be coming into a clean office and that it would just be Elizabeth and I (no family, no agents, etc.) at the closing. However, everything went very smoothly thanks to everyone involved.
Are you both working at home now?
Derek and Elizabeth: I work in marketing for an engineering firm. I am able to work from home. Elizabeth is a registered dietitian who works at a long-term care facility, so she is an essential employee. It's a bit strange for sure, but we're taking it day by day. We just celebrated our first wedding anniversary and marked 10-years of being together. We’re about 20-minutes from family and friends and it will be great to see them when we can.
Until the current health crisis hit, millennial buyers made up a large segment of the real estate market; what advice can you offer to homebuyers who are considering searching for a new home? What is so attractive about purchasing your Eden & Main home?
Derek and Elizabeth: A common theme we heard from others during our nearly year-long search, is to figure out your absolute must-haves in a home as well as what you are willing to give up to get those must-have features. The Townhomes at Eden & Main are so attractive because of walkable space including trails, neighborhoods, and nearby shops; easy access to the highway and major routes; and we're close to some of our favorite restaurants. The Southington area has plenty to do and explore, and it's also very quiet.
What were you looking for in your new home?
Derek and Elizabeth: Our main focus was a having large, up-to-date kitchen because we both like to cook. We were also hoping to find a more open, so the kitchen wasn't cut off from the rest of the home. We got the brand, new kitchen, and open concept here at Eden & Main.
What was the home search like for you?
Derek and Elizabeth: We had been living with Elizabeth’s parents during our search and searched high and low for what we wanted. When we walked into The Townhomes at Eden & Main, we knew immediately this was home; the open-concept kitchen, dining and living space is exactly what we had been searching for in our first home.
When you settled on Eden & Main and were making your customization choices on your unit with Builder Mark Lovley, how was that process?
Derek and Elizabeth: Mark handled all our requests. He's great to work with; we told him what we wanted, and he took care of it right away. Mark and his team are very attentive.
The Townhomes at Eden & Main remain open following Centers for Disease Control guidelines allowing for social distancing tours of the decorated model and available units. Starting at $229,900, two and three-floor townhomes include a garage; some are also available with paver patios for outdoor enjoyment in warmer weather.
